Local HSK1 progress, returned-paper hard marks, assignment defaults, and practice-set drafts can be removed when site data is cleared.

Cookies and browser storage help the product sign users in, remember preferences, protect sessions, measure reliability, and keep local learning progress available on the same device. This policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information more broadly.

Where the product offers worksheet sharing, the current worksheet state may be encoded in the URL so the same character set, paper size, tracing mode, note text, and display choices can be reopened on another device or browser. Assignment, paper-review, progress, routine, family-plan, saved-set, and study-plan links may use the same approach so a learner, teacher, tutor, or parent can reopen the same learning context without a server-side sync step.

What Cookies and Similar Technologies Are

Cookies are small text files that a website can store in your browser. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, software development kits, analytics scripts, pixels, and server logs.

Some of these technologies are needed for the service to work. Others help us understand product usage, diagnose issues, remember settings, or improve the learning experience.

Essential Cookies and Security Storage

account deletion, password reset, and other account workflows

Preference Storage

We may store preferences so the product feels consistent when you return. This can include:

language selection
theme or appearance settings
interface state such as sidebar visibility
recently selected worksheet settings

Clearing browser storage may reset these preferences.

Local Learning Progress

Some learning features save progress in your browser rather than in an account. For example, the beginner Chinese character practice flow may store completed characters, mistake counts, missed strokes, review queue items, and worksheet selections on your device. Returned-paper review may also store selected hard marks, the original returned character set, and timestamps that help later handoff notes explain why a character is back in review.

This local progress helps you continue practice on the same browser. It may not sync across devices unless a signed-in progress feature is later enabled. Clearing local storage can delete this progress.

Copied handoff text and shared URLs are different from local storage. A copied assignment or paper-review URL can preserve the selected character set and options in the link itself, but it does not preserve every browser-local record unless the product explicitly exports or syncs that data.

Analytics and Product Improvement

We may use analytics tools to understand whether learners can find, use, and complete practice flows. Depending on configuration, analytics providers may include Cloudflare analytics, Microsoft Clarity, Umami, Google Analytics, or Plausible.

Analytics may process information such as page URLs, referrers, browser and device type, approximate region, interaction events, performance data, error data, and technical identifiers. We use this information to improve reliability, usability, conversion, and service experience.

Where consent is required for analytics cookies or similar technologies, we will rely on consent or provide the controls required by applicable law.

Payment, Email, and Support Services

If paid checkout, transactional email, or support tools are enabled, providers such as Creem, Stripe, Cloudflare Email, Resend, or a support widget may use their own cookies or similar technologies to process payments, prevent fraud, deliver emails, provide support, or keep their services secure.

Those providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies.

Advertising Cookies

Lang Study does not currently use advertising cookies, social media tracking cookies, or third-party targeting cookies to build advertising profiles. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are commonly used in U.S. state privacy laws.

If this changes, we will update this policy and provide any required notices or choices before using such technologies.

Managing Cookies and Browser Storage

Blocking or deleting storage can affect how Lang Study works. You may be signed out, lose local learning progress, reset worksheet preferences, or need to reconfigure product settings. It may also remove returned-paper marks, saved assignment defaults, practice-set drafts, or other local handoff context that has not been copied, exported, or saved through an account feature.

We may update this Cookie Policy as Lang Study adds languages, learning tools, account features, payments, analytics, or other services. The updated version will be posted on this page with an updated date.
